*Govt Announces Winter Vacation Schedule for Schools Across Kashmir, Winter Zones of Jammu*

*Pre-primary to Class 12 to close in phased manner from Nov 26; Staff asked to remain available for academic work*

Srinagar, Nov 25 : The School Education Department on Tuesday issued the winter vacation schedule for all government and recognised private schools across the Kashmir Division and the winter zone areas of Jammu Division.

According to Government Order No. 665-JK (Edu) of 2025, issued by Secretary Education Ram Niwas Sharma (IAS) as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, pre-primary (Balvatika) classes will remain closed from November 26, 2025, to February 28, 2026. For classes 1 to 8, winter vacation will begin on December 1, 2025, and end on February 28, 2026, while classes 9 to 12 will close from December 11, 2025, to February 22, 2026.

The order further states that all teaching faculty must remain available for any academic engagement during the vacation period. Staff are required to report back to their respective institutions on February 20, 2026, to prepare for reopening of schools.

The department has also warned that any violation of the notified schedule by heads of institutions or staff will invite strict action under rules. (KNC).
